The Region

The many faces of a region famous for its castles and wines are revealed. You’ll discover the blue and gold hues of the charming villages in slate and limestone, the unusual smell of cave houses and their cellars. Countries with an exceptional heritage, Anjou knew, throughout its history, to preserve its authenticity, particularly through local culinary traditions (Fouées, dried apples ...). Around the Loire River the last wild river of Europe, World Heritage of UNESCO, leisure activities are numerous: the practice of fishing with that of windsurfing through the barge rides.

In May and June, an itinerant concert staged on traditional boats moored by the river banks, the Anjou Festival, the National Book and Wine Days, and the cycling festival on the banks of the Loire. Throughout the season you can go and visit Saumur and Angers, with their museums, old towns, markets, châteaux, manor houses and troglodytic houses...
